A place where time has stopped: the city of Lucca is just a few kilometers away, but on these hills, you will breathe the air of a distant land.

From the car park, where the excursion starts, you will walk along the paved little driven road. The route winds through Renaissance Villas, once the summer residences of rich silk merchants and medieval Romanesque churches in white limestone. A country lane will lead you to the first two imposing Villas, visible from the outside. Returning to the main road just to see the first of the two Romanesque churches: St. Andrea di Gattaiola.
You will admire a pleasant and silent landscape, feeling as if you are in what looks like a painting by 19th-century landscapers. From here you will begin to climb paths through the olive groves: the oil produced in this area is of an excellence and has been exported for centuries. Halfway through you will come across the other church, from where you will have a panoramic view of the Piana di Lucca. On the way back you will pass through a chestnut wood and, before going back down, you will have the opportunity to admire a recently constructed building, Villa Farfalla: a building in local stone, created from the inspiration of the Belgian architect Bouquillon. You will close the loop returning to the car park
A special experience, with an environmental guide, that embraces Lucca and its surrounding environment.

Amazing Lucca
We are two nature walking and biking guides, with a regular license issued by the Tuscany Region. We have a genuine passion for nature and for all outdoor activities. We were born in Lucca and we have always lived here. Together we founded Amazing Lucca. Thanks to our activity we can introduce visitors to the hidden corners of our territory, but, even more, let them discover our way of living and being Italian, allowing them to totally immerse themselves in, authentic, cultural and educational experiences.
